A family’s peaceful existence is threatened when a busy highway is opened only meters away from their isolated house in the middle of nowhere. Refusing to move, Marthe, Michel and their three children find innovative ways to adapt to their new environment. Daughter Marion becomes obsessed with pollution and creates her own haz-mat suits. The eldest, Judith, runs away. Michel buys insulation and concrete bricks, and imprisons them in their own home during the summer, thereby amplifying the heat, the smallest sounds and the boredom. It’s not easy to continue their happy-go-lucky routine with all the daily stress of hundreds of noisy speeding cars, and the highway’s unknown long-term dangers. Ultimately, the family needs to redefine what “home” means.
