Jerzy Popiełuszko is a priest who became a symbol of courage in the fight against communism. As a young priest, by chance, he has been to the strikers in Gdaňsk. But this means he is associated with the workers and trade unionists in the Solidarity movement opposing the communist regime in Poland. The film follows his life from early childhood to the rise of the Solidarity movement and proclamation of martial law, when his legend was born. Popiełuszko was brutally murdered by the secret police, with thousands of ordinary Poles attending his funeral. From that moment on, they were no longer afraid to demand the truth.
